Pharyngeal pouch Correcting or removing the pouch, through an endoscopic or surgical approach, to restore normal swallowing and relieve symptoms
A pharyngeal pouch, also known as a Zenker’s diverticulum, is a small pocket that can form in the upper part of the oesophagus, just behind the throat. It most commonly affects older adults and develops when the muscles involved in swallowing do not work smoothly, causing pressure that leads to the pouch forming. Symptoms can include difficulty swallowing, regurgitation of food, coughing or choking after meals, bad breath, or a sensation of something stuck in the throat. Diagnosis is usually made through an endoscopic examination or imaging study.
Treatment options depend on the size and severity of the pouch and may involve endoscopic or surgical procedures to remove or correct it. Proper management can significantly improve symtoms.
Tongue tie Simple procedure to free restricted tongue movement
Tongue tie occurs when the tissue under the tongue is too tight, restricting movement and sometimes causing feeding, speech, or oral health issues.
